July-From the President-Cindy Bennett, WICT RM 2003 President
Welcome to the latest edition of our monthly WICT-RM e-letter. We hope that you and those close to you are finding time to enjoy some of the wonderful things our region offers this time of year. We truly are lucky to have so much to choose from right in our own backyard.
Your WICT Rocky Mountain chapter also continues to give you some great choices for personal and professional enrichment. Coming up in August will be two Leadership Development Workshops that promise to be a very rewarding experience for veterans and novice alike. Cathy Kuo will be the keynote speaker for the first event and Linda Williams will be the keynote speaker for the second event. Working group sessions where we can share ideas and experiences for meeting our leadership development goals will be part of the program.
And just as this year's crop of Rocky Ford melons are nearing their harvest, we're harvesting some great ideas for an outstanding technology session, which will be held in September. Look for more details next month's issue.
I also want to thank our 2003 WICT Challenge on the Green golf tournament CO-chairs Pam Stinson and mimi Schaefer for a great event. It was great to see so many of our colleagues from Qwest and Level 3.
Best wishes for a great summer
Cindy Bennett, President

WICT Mentoring Program Update
Coaching Workshop: The 2003 Mentors had an opportunity to attend Coaching Workshop facilitated by Barry Shapiro, Personnel Decisions International on June 30.
"Powerful session. Definitely covered critical topics for coaches. I particularly liked the techniques which addressed how to build trust, conflict management, and performance goals. I plan to apply these learnings in my mentoring group as well as my work group" Ellen Quest, Executive Director, Starz-Encore."

2003 Golf Outing a Great Success
Mixing business and fun on the green: (left to right: Sy Naiman of Quovadx, Collen Abdoulah of WideOpenWest and Remington Green of Organic People
On Tuesday, June 17, the Rocky Mountain Chapter of WICT, Qwest Women and ESPN hosted the third annual WICT Challenge on the Green golf tournament. More than 30 players enjoyed a great afternoon on the Wellshire golf course and the chance to put into real-life experience to some of the things they've been learning in the lessons we have been offering this spring, including how to simultaneously conduct business, work toward your personal best and have fun. And we had so many prizes that everyone won something! Prizes included swing evaluations donated by GolfTec, tickets to the International in August, Pen sets, gift certificates to the Wellshire pro shop, and many other excellent prizes. Colleen Abdullah, President of WOW, walked away with the coveted silverback gorilla clubcover! Colleen graciously accepted her award with her usual great sense of humor and aplomb!
Being a premier golf event in the cable industry, who could forget the films Happy Gilmore and Caddy Shack? These DVDs were a smashing success as giveaway prizes to a lucky few. It was also great to have a number of our members who couldn't get away for the afternoon (see what you missed by not taking the "Business/Golf Etiquette" class!) join us for dinner The dinner, which accompanied the award ceremony, was more than delicious - having an open bar also helped! We had a great time on the patio watching the sun set behind the mountains and getting to know others in our industry. There was much fun and excitement and we are looking forward to other golf events!
Our thanks to all who participated, we had a great time!
