Nine Industry Leaders Honored at WICT Rocky Mountain Walk of Fame

WOFAllNomineesOn April 29, nine cable industry leaders were honored at our annual Walk of Fame event. During the 11th Annual Walk of Fame, WICT Rocky Mountain also celebrated its collective successes during the past year, including a "Mentoring Excellence" honor and the "Inspire and Others Will Follow" award from WICT National.

In keeping with the organization's commitment to advancing women's careers and enriching their lives at all levels through personal and professional development and leadership opportunities - the inspirational speakers and the unparalleled networking at the Walk of Fame made this the cable event of the year.

Congratulations to the nine honorees including Abby Pfeiffer, senior vice president of Human Resources at Charter Communications!

 

WICT Rocky Mountain - 2010 Woman of the Year
AbbyPfeifferAbby Pfeiffer, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Charter Communications - With more than 20 years in the Human Resources (HR) discipline, Pfeiffer has held key senior HR leadership positions in top telecommunications organizations. Currently, she leads the HR and Training functions for the Charter enterprise nationwide, driving strategy for all areas of HR, including compensation, benefits, training and development, HR practices, payroll, and HRMS. Her responsibilities also include optimizing employees' effectiveness in continually improving the customer experience and driving the organization toward "employer of choice" status.

Mentor of the Year
ScottBinderScott Binder, Senior Vice President, Mile High Region, Comcast - Scott has been a cable operations leader for 20 years, managing cable systems across the country. Currently, he leads all aspects of Comcast's cable operations in Colorado and New Mexico, serving more than a million customers. Binder serves on the boards of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Denver Public Schools Foundation, the Colorado Cable Television Association and was the Chair of the 2008/2009 MHUW Campaign. Further, Scott was named the 2006 Denver Telecom Professionals Communications Executive of the Year.

GaryTraverGary Traver, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Comcast Media Center - In this position, the 25-year industry veteran is responsible for overall management of the CMC business. Denver-based Comcast Media Center (CMC), a business unit of Comcast Cable, provides centralized content management and distribution solutions for cable systems, networks and advertisers. He is a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, the Society of Cable Television Engineers and the NCTA Technology Committee. Traver serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Denver Children's Home, is on the Board of CCAD - Combined Conditional Access Development and Support, LLC, and is a member of the SES World Skies Customer Advisory Board.

 

Woman in Technology
CarolMcBrideCarol MacBride, Senior Director, New Product Technology Development, Comcast Spotlight - MacBride is responsible for providing business and technical support, evaluation and assessment, and the execution of trials for the development of next-generation products and services in support of cable advertising sales. During her career, she has been involved in a variety of projects including the launch of DMX, the development of hybrid digital advertising insertion systems and the design of software applications.

 


Women to Watch
AmyBellAmy Bell, Executive Director, Marketing Communications, Starz Entertainment - Bell is an industry veteran with more than 16 years experience in marketing broadband products including strategic planning, brand and campaign management, direct marketing and product development. Currently responsible for developing strategic solutions and marketing communications programs for Starz, Bell creates direct to consumer, trade and point of sale communications, and supports the marketing initiatives of the Company's original series.

AnneCollinsAnne Collins, Executive Director, Account Management, CSG Systems - Collins oversees all day-to-day client operations including project management, process development and improvement, business analysis and custom software development. Anne has worked with many high profile companies across the cable industry, including Wide Open West (WOW!), Charter Communications, Time Warner Cable and Adelphia. She is also an alumnus of the WICT Rocky Mountain Leadership Institute and serves as a Membership Director for the chapter.

 


SarahEderSarah Eder
, Principal and Owner, Eder Communications - Eder provides public relations counsel and strategic marketing communications services in technology, consumer products and services industries. Previously, she directed media relations and communications strategies for Comcast Cable, AT&T Broadband and AT&T Corp. She is an alumnus of the WICT Rocky Mountain Leadership Institute, and received the first Mary White Memorial Scholarship.

ShelleyThompsonShelley Guiou Thompson
, Vice President, Programming, Charter - With more than 12 years experience in the cable industry, Thompson negotiates Charter's carriage agreements for a number of major cable network groups. In addition, she oversees the administration of all of Charter's cable network carriage agreements.

Cindy Varga
, Program Manager, Office of the CTO, Liberty Global, Inc. -In this capacity, Varga is responsible for planning, communicating and coordinating projects, programs and initiatives. She also conducts and tracks research on current and emerging technologies, consumer trends and marketplace dynamics.
